My Story

Hi, my name is Jamelia Cyr. As a Newfoundlander, sharing good food is a way to express love. Whether it's a special birthday treat or a Sunday dinner, food brings loved ones together. 

The name "Duckies" honours my late grandmother who affectionately called me "my ducky" and sparked my love for baking - spending countless years baking together. 
 
After my celiac diagnosis in 2017, I started to face daily hurdles of living with a condition that required a huge lifestyle change. Relearning the basics and discovering new ingredients one day at a time. 
 
Experiencing the lack of safe and enticing gluten-free options firsthand, I'm committed to creating better solutions for those facing similar challenges. Inspired by the motto "do what makes the heart happy,"  I quit my 9-5 day job and set out to create delicious, wholesome foods to share with family, friends and my community.
 
Duckies embodies years of learning and perfecting gluten-free baking techniques that are safe and actually taste good (even approved by my gluten loving friends). My primary mission is to make gluten-free living joyful, inclusive and stress-free. I hope people will enjoy my delightful treats and share memorable moments over my food without worry or exclusion.

My rotating menus are designed to offer comforting, homestyle classics that bring people together with food everyone can enjoy. By applying these principles, I know I can make a positive impact on people's lives — one delicious bite at a time.
